I love this picture my my motorcycle outside of a old fashion looking general store.
This was my second motorcycle a 1987 Concours. I bought it in 1999 to prove that I could ride a motorcycle again. I loved this motorcycle but felt my priorities changed in life and sold it after one summer.
Riding with some friends and checking out Bike Week.
My first motorcycle was a 1995 Vulcan 750. I had it for three summers before getting into an accident with someone who did a SMIDSY (Sorry Mate I didn't see you). I ended up with a broken arm and leg. I was out of work for 4.5 months.
Decided to take my Concours 14 (Stormbringer) out today it was a nice fall day. I hit the 10,000 mile mark. Even though I rode less miles than I did last year they were better miles. Last year it was mainly to and from work. This year it was three weekend trips that was the majority of miles. .
I bought a set of Bohn Adventure Pants last week and tried them out today. They are an armor system that fits under your normal clothes. They have different materials that hold the armor depending if it is hot or cold out. I have to say that they were comfortable under my jeans. I will be buying a pair of Kevlar jeans soon for abrasion protection.. I will be wearing them when I am doing errands or riding with a group that stops often. It is a pain to take my overpants gear off each time we stop.
I took advantage of the sunny weather and rode my Concours to work today. I was warm enough the morning except for a little area on my neck. When I was walking around the parking lot at lunch time I noticed there were no other motorcycles at work.
It was so nice riding in the valley this morning on my motorcycle. It was a little foggy and chilly. The heated grips and having my windscreen all the way up made a huge difference.
I just got to work and I am liking my new jacket. The other jacket I had was just to hot. My new jacket has 3 layers. The mesh layer that holds the CE armor. The removable waterproof layer and finally a removable insulated layer. I
I went up to Whole Foods on Sunday since I rode my motorcycle. I went though Tinkers Creek on my way. That was a really nice road.
I got my new rack from Phil Farkles for my motorcycle today. What a nice looking rack. It came with the mounts for my Givi E55NT top case. I bought the case used and the previous owner installed a E96 rack on top . I am ready for a trip now.
I went out on my Concours 14 today. It was really cool because I didn't have any destination.. I took back roads and kept deciding either go straight or turn and worry about getting home later.
Today I bought a motorcycle it is new in the crate 2012 Concours 14. The last motorcycle I had was 14 years ago. I am so excited to be riding again. I pick it up next Saturday.
Fifteen years ago this evening, September 17th 1997, I hopped on my motorcycle to go get some gas. I went 2 blocks from our apartmanent and a truck pulled out in front of me. Here is my Vulcan 750 when it was new.
Here are a picture of it after the accident
I ended up with a broken arm and a broken leg. I had to have surgery on both for pins and plates to be added. I really believe that the helmet saved my life because my helmet had scrapes on it from dragging across the ground.
