Thankful Thursday - Helping Hands..

I am not the type of person that asks for help in my personal life if I have any other choice.. Sometimes everyone needs a helping hand. No, I am not asking for money in case you are thinking of hiding. I am so lucky that I have people in my life that I can count on to help when needed..I am talking about everything to watching Morgan when we really need it or just being able to talk to someone when I need it. Maybe that would be helping ears but it just doesn’t have the same ring.. I really do appreciate it..

Thankful Thursday - Mistakes

No, I am not thankful for mistakes. I am thankful for the fact that with most mistakes you get second chances. In my case I am talking about weight. Over the past couple years I have gained some weight back, and recently I stopped going to the gym. I tried working out at home but that was not cutting it for me. Well, I have started getting back to the gym and already lost four pounds. So second chances (or third, fourth and etc…)work, so give yourself another chance… Get up and get healthy..

Thankful Thursday - Family Reunion

We are having our 26th Zabarsky family reunion this weekend.. It is nice that this tradition going on for so long..It is at a different person’s house each year. It is also a shame that some of us live so close but do not see each other except once a year..

Additional note…

It was mentioned at the renunion that they (my Aunts & Uncles and my parents) will be passing the torch to the next generation. I think that is a great idea and that hopefully more of my cousins and their families will be able to make it..

Speed Trap - Five on Friday

Speed Trap

1. Have you ever been pulled over? How many times?

I have been pulled over about 6 times. It has been 11 years since I have been pulled over and 13 since I have had a ticket. I was pulled over because I didn’t have the new tags on that expired 7 months before it.. I had them in my glove box but forgot to put them on..

2. What are you most likely to be pulled over for? (Speeding? Reckless driving? Expired tags/inspection? Bad signal/headlight?)

At this point in my life, probably not going with the flow of traffic.. I go a few miles over the limit and let everyone else go around me. I don’t stay in the left hand lane so don’t yell at me.

3. You’re driving along on your merry way when you see a police car. What is your first thought?

Am I speeding.

4. When you see a cop car, do you hit your brakes or keep your foot on the gas?

I usually don’t have to hit the brakes. I check my speed and coast a couple miles off of my speed.

5. What’s your personal speed limit? How do you determine what it is for any given road?

I go a few miles over the speed limit and that is it.. The fastest I have been, was on my motorcycle. I was going over a 100 miles an hour. That was pretty stupid.. A couple of motorcycles buzzed us in our lane. The guy that I was riding with took off after them and so did I. After a minute of this I thought, OK I am going to catch up with them and then what? Flip them off. Is that worth my life.. No I don’t think so. Kawasaki Vulcan 750

Thankful Thursday - iPhone

I know this is wrong.. So wrong to be thankful for a phone but it is SOOOO much more. I have had it only a day and I could write volumes about it. It doesn’t matter how much music you can put on it (8GB) because there is an app called Pandora, and it will allow you to access different “stations” based on your selections. This means FREE non-interupted “radio”, so I picked Garth Brooks and and then I had all these country songs  to listen to over the 3G network. It states it will work over edge but I have not tried it. So lets say I am in the mood for some ACDC but I forgot to put any on my iPhone.. Boom, I go to Pandora and listen for free.It has an option to tag it so the next time you are in iTunes it will ask you if you want to by it. Shall I go on?? GPS, internet, Mail, a twitter application,

Thankful Thursday - Computers.

I am thankful for computers. Well, actually my love for computers. If it was not for that I would still be working at a manufacturing plant, out on the floor, checking production parts. Just like everything in a person’s life we all learn from every job we had. Even it is to find out what we don’t like or how not to treat people, every job is a good experience. I am coming up on 45 days at my new job. I cannot believe that, Plastech seems like ages ago. I am so thankful that I love my job, not everyone can say that. I look forward to going in to work, thinking the best way to design something. Right now I am working mainly with Microsoft SQL 2005 & SQL Server Integration Services 2005. I love learning new things no matter what application. I just learned that in EXCEL you can do more then one condition for an “IF” Statement. I have used nested statements in the past IF(condition, true, false) so it would be if(condition,(If(Condition, true, false),false)) but you can do and/or/not so it would be IF(and(Condition,Condition,Condition),true, false)

Thankful Thursday - A new job

I have done this in the past and stopped doing it for one reason or the other. The first thing that comes to mind is a new job. I am pretty certain that I would not have a job if I was still with my previous company. It would have to do with location not with my abilities. I would have to work out of my house and I am not sure if that would have been allowed on a permanent basis. It was such a good move for me. I still work for “IT” but it is not a manufacturing company. I have learned a lot in the month that I have been there. I also went from sneakers, jeans and a sweatshirt to dress shoes, dress pants and a shirt and tie. Yes I said tie. I know quit laughing. I have been looking at a place online that you can design your own tie.
